This Sunday, Armenian Genocide on 60 Minutes

We would like to inform all our members and readers that this Sunday, February 28, the American newsprogram 60 Minutes will broadcast a segment on the Armenian Genocide:

BATTLE OVER HISTORY - Bob Simon reports on what the Armenians call their holocaust – the 1915 forced deportation and massacre of more than a million ethnic Armenians by the Turks – an event that the Turks and our own government have refused to call genocide. Michael Gavshon and Drew Magratten are the producers.

Fethiye Cetin Presents Her Book “My Grandmother” in Bulgaria

SOFIA, “AraratNews” – The book My Grandmother by Turkish (Turkish-Armenian) lawyer Fethiye Cetin has been published and presented in Bulgarian for the first time by Ararat News (ANP) publishing house.

The book’s presentation took place on December 20 [2009] in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia during a Christmas concert organized by AGBU.

The author, Fethiye Cetin, was invited by the aforementioned publishing house and enjoyed the hospitality of Sonia Bedrosian, chairman of AGBU [Sofia].

More than 300 persons, including Armenia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Sergey Manassarian, were present at the book presentation. Fethiye Cetin stated that she felt honored to meet the Armenian community of Bulgaria and speak about her book.

The book My Grandmother was first published in Turkey in 2004 and then translated into Armenian, French, English, Greek, Italian and Dutch.

Manoogian-Demirdjian Students Blog at “Saroyan’s Ghost”

Blogging has been a popular online publishing format for years and the students at AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School in Canoga Park, California, have joined the online community with a blog appropriately titled, “Saroyan’s Ghost,” in reference to the well-known Armenian-American writer William Saroyan.

A compilation of student writing, the blog offers insight into the lives and thoughts of an emerging generation of Armenians in one of the major centers of the Armenian diaspora.

Congratulations to the students at AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School for creating an interesting online publication!
