On July 3, the 2009 AGBU Garbis Papazian award will be presented to Bulgarian TV director, reporter and cinematographer Tsvetana Paskaleva for her dedication to the truthful representation of the Karabakh liberation struggle. The event will take place at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, Armenia.
Established in 1988, the AGBU Garbis Papazian Award was created through the initiative and with the financial resources of Garbis Papazian to recognize non-Armenian who contribute to an increase in awareness of Armenian history and culture.
Past recipients of the award have included a long list of prominent individuals from around the world, including Polish public figure Msgr. Stanislaw Pindera, Spanish intellectual Gonzalo H. Guarch, German scholar Wolfgang Gust, UCLA Professor Peter Crowe, Baroness Cox of the British House of Lords, Russian intellectual Kim Bakshi and Austrian archivists Helmut & Heide Buschhausen.
